The Undergraduate Minor

The minor in Latin American Studies is designed for students who have an interest in Latin America and the Caribbean, but may not have the flexibility to pursue a major. In addition, UM offers students the opportunity to complete classes which may be counted towards the Latin American Studies minor through the ULatin America study abroad program.

Minor in Latin American Studies curriculum

ULatin America

Students participating in this program will have the opportunity to spend a life-changing semester in three of the most vibrant, cosmopolitan and liveliest cities in the world: Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, and Santiago. This program offers students a series of courses designed to help them explore the dynamics of Latin American nations and their various cultures. With no language requirement, the ULatin America program is the perfect way to begin to learn Spanish or Portuguese and to participate in an internship opportunity abroad.

Further information is available on the UM Study Abroad website.

Students wanting to apply these classes towards an LAS major or minor should consult with the academic director of Latin American Studies for further guidance.
